As expected, Georgia received and accepted a bid to the 52nd-annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Sunday and a Jan. 31 date against Conference USA Champion Central Florida, led by former Georgia Tech coach George O’Leary.

Kickoff in the New Year’s Eve game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

Georgia (6-6) will be playing in a post-season bowl for the 14th straight year.

No. 25 Central Florida (10-3), is coming off a 17-7 win Saturday over SMU in the CUSA title game, the Knights’ second conference crown.

The Knights are led by quarterback Jeff Godfrey, who has completed 143 of 209 passes for 2,042 yards and 13 touchdowns with just six interceptions.

Ronnie Weaver leads UCF in rushing with 890 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Latavius Murray has rushed for 533 yards and 10 scores. Brian Watters and Jamar Newsome are Central Florida’s leading receivers with 594 and 587 yards, respectively.

Although it’s been 23 years, this won’t be the Bulldogs’ first trip to Memphis.

In 1967, Georgia dropped a 14-7 decision to North Carolina State, which was quarterbacked by former head coach Jim Donnan.

Georgia’s last trip occurred in 1987, when kicker John Kasay booted a 39-yard field goal as time expired to beat Arkansas, 20-17.
